I teach bass guitar students of all ages and abilities, as well as double bass for beginners, from Tuesday to Thursday at my cosy home studio in Glasgow’s Southside. Scroll down for student testimonials, pricing and to inquire about a discounted introductory lesson.

As a teacher I tailor my approach to each student, taking their individual ambitions and background into account. I encourage students to develop their broader musicality in tandem with their bass playing, drawing on my experience as a double bass player, singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist.

As a student myself I have gone through both classical training as well as more informal teaching, and draw on the advantages of different disciplines in my own teaching. As such, students will learn the fundamentals of music theory as well as how to approach their instrument instinctively.

Most importantly, lessons should be fun, as well as productive!

Testimonials

Sam has a very friendly and approachable style of teaching and is always really enthusiastic about the bass and music in general. I like how he is able to work the theory into our lessons and no matter what you ask him about, he’s always able to come up with an explanation and exercise to suit the situation.

Craig

Samuel is an amazing teacher. He is kind, helpful and every lesson is very interesting.

Nina

Very friendly, patient and thorough. Would not hesitate in recommending him as a bass teacher.
